I'd like to cast a vote for spectral view as well, either separate (as in Audition or ocenaudio) or superimposed on the wave view (with variable transparency, as in Izotope). I use Amadeus for marking clips for spectral analysis elsewhere, and I need to select spectrally uniform regions.

If I save the file as 32-bit wav it takes about 4.5 seconds to read. Integer to float conversion is pretty fast.
Could file I/O be sped up by reading/writing larger buffers at a time?
