Thanks for the info Martin .. but I'm looking for an analysis tool that tells me the exact length rather than me placing the cursor also the algorithm I'm working on "thinks" in minutes/seconds/cents ..so samples have no use :) I need to tell the programmer something like File1 - 3"66...

thanks for the input but this doesn't seem to be possible since I don't think you can select the last 10 seconds + the first 10 seconds at the same time remember I need to check how it's looping from the end and back to the beginning it's a bit strange that the ONLY way to hear a file looped happens...

in Reaper there's a very useful feature:

say you have a 1 minute long file with short events like a bell sound.

there, in one click, you can get rid of the silence in between and separate them into single regions, based on their amplitude
