But now it's OK, I uninstalled it completely and reinstalled. Problem solved.

When changing the bits / sample rate (bar below left) there appear no rate numbers. Bits can be chosen in the list, but nothing happens afterwards.
Quit and reopen gives the initial bit/rate. I've tried that with mp3 files only.

Any solutions?

you mean the "clock" at the very upper right side?
This gives two readings,
1) a straight one from zero to total file duration, (forwards)
2) a reading of how long is still to be played (backwards)

You just have to click on it to change to the other counting direction
