Simplest method of converting two mono files to one stereo
Won't the Smart Editing feature put the two channels a bit out of alignment? Perhaps best to turn that off first. Ray Foret jr wrote: 1. Make a new file. 2. Split the file in to two tracks. 3. Now, take the file you want to be the left channel and place it in the top track and name it so you can ref...

Equalize Volume Across Many Tracks
The only actual work you'd need to do is to enter a starting mark for each intended track in the file. When that's done, select the entire file and Split According To Markers (the opposite of Join File); and then normalize the resulting tracks via Batch Process. Equalize Volume Across Many Tracks
I would use some combination of Batch Processor and Join Files for that.

time counter(s)
Where do I change the direction of the time counter in Playback Controller? Also, is there a way to get a time counter placed in a main window, the way it was in Amadeus II?

Question re burning a CD
Right. I was meaning if the original disc was of a singular album, where the tracks had all been mastered as pieces-of-a-whole. Charles Jonah wrote: One comment -- you may not really want to normalize all tracks, depending on what is in them. for example, if one track has a very short loud section, ...

Question re burning a CD
I've just figured it out on my own. The steps: 1) Open the tracks in Amadeus and normalize. 2) Save each one to a folder on the desktop. 3) Drag the tracks into Toast Titanium. 4) Rip the CD using Toast. You might do better using the Sound > Join Files function. This will allow you to easily group ...

Normalise \'spikes\' in a recording
They would indeed be contradictory -- both establish peak levels, but affect other parts of the signal quite differently. I meant them as separate suggestions. Or rather, I was suggesting that Peak Limiter might suit Trev's needs, while also describing what Normalize does. I have only a basic grasp ...

Normalise 'spikes' in a recording
I would use the Peak Limiter effect for this. Normalize amplifies or deamplifies (dpending on the nature of the source material in relation to the effect setting) a selection entirely in self-proportion. It is an alternative to the Amplify effect, with the software (rather than human user) calculati...

Normalize question
I use Normalize very frequently, and almost always with the same settings. Is there a way to get that to function with just one move, in other words to bypass the settings window? I realize that cmd-t will reapply the most recently-used effect, but I often make other moves between uses of Normalize ...

Congratulations to Martin!
This part makes the achievement seem potentially Nobel-worthy: In addition, his work could open the way to understanding the phenomenon of universality. Other equations, when rescaled, converge to the KPZ equation, so there seems to be some universal phenomenon lurking in the background. Hairer¹s wo...

Mono vs. stereo
Yes, but as I understand it when compressing a mono file to MP3 you can do so at half the bitrate (vs. a stereo file) without any loss of data. I can't swear that that's absolutely true, but the person who told it to me is fairly expert on such matters, and so I've taken his word for it. I've been w...

Perhaps run the same filter two or three times ... kboasso wrote: Thanks for the suggestion, CD. I tried the AUHiPass filter to cut / attenuate the low end, and it almost gets me to where I want to be. Problem is it cuts volume too far down; when re-amplify, then resulting sound is still to "ri...

I have not tried this yet myself, but you might find it helpful. Thanks for these replies. I do have Skype, but hadn't considered putting it to work on this project. As soon as I can relocate my USB headset and run a test or two, I expect I'll be all set and ready to proceed with my telephone interview. Much appreciated, --Phil Milstein Martin Hairer wrote: For $...
