I get a similar "MTLCompiler Service quit unexpectedly" message as reported earlier (viewtopic.php?p=12756#p12756). The crash dump starts as follows:
===================
Process: MTLCompilerService [72961]
Path: /System/Library/Frameworks/Metal.framework/Versions/A/XPCServices/MTLCompilerService.xpc/Contents/MacOS/MTLCompilerService
Identifier: MTLCompilerService
Version: 125.30 (125.30)
Code Type: X86-64 (Native)
Parent Process: ??? [1]
Responsible: Amadeus Pro [72959]
=====================
However, I'm running Amadeus Pro v2.8.4 under High Sierra, which is rather different from the previous case. The error occurs upon opening a .wav file. I can try the previously suggested Terminal fix, but I thought that the fact that the error occurs with different versions of the app and the OS might be helpful. Any comments appreciated! (I can post the whole dump if necessary.)

Re: MTLComiler error again
Metal seems rather unstable under High Sierra; this is fixed in Catalina and Big Sur. (And wasn't a problem in Sierra either.)
Re: MTLComiler error again
Thanks! I am slowly slipping towards the edge of the cliff of upgrading my OS, and here's another little patch of ball-bearings underfoot .
