Apologies if this is already a feature somewhere..
it would be great if, within the preferences where it currently has
- Defaut file format for new files - / options
IF you could add a checkbox that said something like
- match current contents of clipboard, so that IF i had just copied something from a 44.1k / 16bit file, the NEW file would be that format .. etc etc. this would be super handy as I am often working in different file formats and cutting + pasting / creating new files so switching between them when creatiing new ones automatically would be super handy.

Thanks for the suggestion! Yes, this makes sense. In fact, it is already the case that if you drag a file from the Finder onto an empty document then it changes its format to match that of the dragged file, so it would be consistent with this.
