Marker at play head while playing

Post by Mikepo »

I'd like to play a file (in Amadeus) and insert a marker (to mark a problem) as I play, by simply pressing "m" without stopping. Is this possible?

Hi, I’m not sure either if there is a native way to do this during playback via a key command…?
It can be done if you have the ‘Add Marker’ button present in the apps Window Toolbar, it looks like a little flag, just click on that during playback to add a marker where the play head is without stopping the playback.
If that button isn’t visible in the Toolbar, then go to: View > Customise Toolbar… and drag it into place.
But in day to day use it often isn’t very convenient to always be hovering the cursor over that button waiting for the moment it's needed I admit!

My workaround;
If, like me, you happen to have BetterTouchTool (it’s a third party app for controlling your Mac and no it's not Free either*) installed on your system, that will allow you to add a shortcut to your Mac’s Touch Bar (if your hardware has one) or set a key command (like you my choice was to use the M key) to activate the afore mentioned ‘Add Marker’ button during playback.
Note though that the ‘Add Marker’ button must be present in the Window Toolbar for BTT to activate it.

*There may well be other third party apps out there that could do this too but BTT is the only one I have and know works.

Thanks much. I added the toolbar command and that works fine for me.
